The great thing about movies is that not all of them are meant to be great epic works of art that define the human experience and capture the zeitgeist; some are just meant to just be fun and a good watch for a Saturday afternoon. The beauty of independent movies is that film makers more than often than not have the creative freedom that their studio funded counterparts cannot afford. With big studios breathing down your back your creativity might be stifled a little bit. Written, directed and produced by Richard Linklater, Boyhood is one of those movies where creative freedom is evident. The filming of the movie was shot from the year 2002 to 2013 and has already won nine of the eleven awards it was nominated for including the Berlin International Film Festival award for Best Director and might as well find itself on the Oscars list for 2015.
