Seventh Day Slumber Shares “Marina’s Story”: A Testimony of Survival, Faith, and God’s Miraculous Power

Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber has shared a deeply moving story from their recent tour-one that highlights God's power to redeem, restore, and breathe new life into even the darkest situations.
Frontman Joseph Rojas took to social media to recount his emotional encounter with a young woman named Marina, whose journey from despair to hope has touched the hearts of thousands. The post, accompanied by a heartfelt message and a trigger warning, has since gone viral within faith communities online.
Rojas first met Marina when she was just twelve years old and a devoted fan of the band. "She loved our music, and we even took a picture together back then," he shared. "Fast forward to now-she's nineteen, and a few days ago at our concert she asked me to do a tattoo that meant a lot to her."
The tattoo design-a skeleton holding a mask connected by puppet strings to several faces-symbolizes Marina's internal struggle with identity and pain. "It represents how she felt inside," Rojas explained, "putting on different faces to make people think she was okay when, deep down, she was struggling."
About a year ago, Marina reached a breaking point and attempted to take her own life by consuming four bottles of prescription medication. She locked her bedroom door and left a message for her parents on her phone's lock screen.
But in what Rojas calls nothing short of divine intervention, Marina's father found the locked door miraculously open. He rushed her to the hospital, where doctors warned she would likely not make it through the night.
"God wasn't done with her story," Rojas emphasized. "Not only did she survive-she recovered, went through therapy, and came out stronger than ever."
Today, Marina is a college student pursuing a degree in clinical therapy, determined to help others who wrestle with the same kind of pain she once endured. With courage and conviction, she asked Rojas to share her story publicly so others might know that healing is possible and that no one is truly alone.
"Marina, I'm so proud of you," Rojas wrote. "You're living proof that God still works miracles."
The post concludes with a message of hope for anyone facing similar struggles:
"If you're struggling, please know this: you are loved, you are wanted, and your story isn't over."
Fans and followers of Seventh Day Slumber have flooded the band's social pages with prayers, encouragement, and testimonies of their own. The band, known for their ministry to those battling depression, addiction, and hopelessness, continues to use their platform to speak truth and life into dark places.
Since forming in the late 1990s, Seventh Day Slumber has become one of Christian rock's most enduring voices, blending raw honesty with messages of redemption. Through albums like Picking Up the Pieces, Finally Awake, and Death by Adoration, they have built a legacy centered on outreach, authenticity, and spiritual restoration.
The band's ongoing "Death by Adoration Tour" continues to share the hope of Jesus across the nation-reaching those who feel unseen and reminding them that there is a God who still heals, still saves, and still redeems.
