Brandy Norwood Addresses Abrupt Exit from Chicago Concert, Cites Dehydration

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Brandy Norwood has released an official statement addressing the unexpected interruption of her performance during The Boy Is Mine Tour in Chicago this past weekend.
During the latter half of the sold-out concert at the United Center, fans were taken by surprise when Brandy left the stage before the conclusion of her set. The night, which also featured co-headliner Monica, was intended to culminate with their iconic duet, "The Boy Is Mine." Instead, the performance ended abruptly, leaving concertgoers confused and concerned.
Brandy has now broken her silence to reassure fans and provide clarity regarding the incident.
"During my set in Chicago, I began to feel extremely light-headed and faint due to dehydration," Brandy shared in an official statement released through her team. "I tried to push through, but my body simply needed rest. Out of caution, I left the stage to get immediate medical attention. I want to sincerely apologize to all of my fans who came out to see the show. I never take your love and support for granted, and I'm so sorry for how the night ended."
The beloved performer, affectionately known as "The Vocal Bible," went on to express deep gratitude to her fans, team, and tourmate Monica for their understanding and compassion.
"This tour has been such a special journey for me - celebrating music, friendship, and the power of perseverance," Brandy continued. "I've been giving everything I have to every performance, and I think I pushed myself a bit too hard. I'm thankful to God, my doctors, and my amazing fans for reminding me to slow down and take care of myself. With a little rest and hydration, I'll be back on stage stronger than ever."
Representatives for The Boy Is Mine Tour have confirmed that Brandy is now resting and recovering under medical supervision. At this time, no changes have been announced to upcoming tour dates, though the team emphasized that her health remains the top priority.
The Chicago show was one of the most highly anticipated stops on the nationwide co-headlining tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of "The Boy Is Mine," Brandy and Monica's 1998 Grammy-winning hit that topped charts around the world and remains one of the defining R&B duets of all time. The reunion tour has been met with sold-out crowds, glowing reviews, and a wave of nostalgia among longtime fans of both artists.
Tour representatives also issued a joint statement expressing appreciation for the fans' concern and patience:
"Brandy is an incredible artist and performer whose commitment to excellence is unmatched. Saturday night's show was paused purely for health reasons, and we're grateful that she took the necessary steps to care for herself. We thank all the fans for their love and understanding and look forward to welcoming Brandy back on stage soon."
Brandy's message of transparency and self-care has already resonated with fans and fellow artists alike, with many taking to social media to share words of encouragement and prayers for her recovery.
As one of the most respected vocalists and performers of her generation, Brandy has built a legacy defined by artistic excellence, authenticity, and resilience. From her chart-topping hits like "Have You Ever" and "Full Moon" to her acclaimed acting roles in Moesha and Cinderella, Brandy continues to inspire generations through her artistry and faith.
"I'm reminded that even in moments of weakness, there's strength in being honest and resting in God's care," Brandy added. "Thank you all for lifting me up with your prayers and love. I can't wait to see you again very soon."
Fans are encouraged to stay updated through Brandy's official social media pages and the The Boy Is Mine Tour website for announcements on her return to the stage.
