Chandler Moore Issues Statement Amid Allegations Against Maverick City Music Leadership

In light of recent media reports and public filings, Chandler Moore addresses the lawsuit he has filed against Maverick City Music, its CEO Norman Gyamfi, and related parties. He has alleged breach of contract, fraud, forgery, conversion, and misappropriation in connection with business dealings and royalty distributions involving the worship collective.
According to the complaint, in 2021 Mr. Gyamfi is alleged to have orchestrated the sale of Maverick City Music's masters to a label entity without disclosing certain commissions, and in 2022 royalty payments were rerouted under a co-publishing agreement bearing what Moore asserts is a forged signature. The lawsuit further alleges that more than US $800,000 in royalties owed under a 2024 contract were withheld. Moore seeks damages, the return of funds, and a court ruling invalidating the contested agreements.
News outlets, including ChurchLeaders, reported that Moore's exit from day-to-day involvement with Maverick City was abrupt and tied to his claims of misuse of power by leadership, especially by Gyamfi. His departure from active participation had, until now, been quietly noticed by observers in worship/music circles. As reported, Moore's absence became more evident when Maverick City continued releasing music and content without his vocal presence. Over the past several months, Moore withdrew from social media and stepped away from the spotlight.
Those departures, combined with the timing of the legal action, form a backdrop to the current dispute. Moore says he took time to refocus-on faith, family, and integrity-but that the unresolved contractual and financial matters compelled him to act.
Maverick City Music co-founder Jonathan Jay has publicly denied the allegations, categorizing them as "wildly untrue" and suggesting Moore's actions are intended to force a separation. Jay has accused Moore of attempting to strong-arm his way out of prior obligations. Moore respects that opposing parties may contest his version of events but affirms his commitment to engage fully in the judicial process, confident that discovery will vindicate his position.
This legal action is not driven by bitterness, Moore emphasizes, but by a need to clarify rights, restore fairness, and enable his creative stewardship unburdened by opaque restrictions. He hopes for resolution through mediation or court determination that establishes transparency, respect, and equity.
As Moore turns toward the next chapter of his calling, he remains grounded in faith and creativity. Known for his work on worship hits like "Man of Your Word," "Jireh," and "Wait on You," he now looks ahead to writing, recording, and performing anew, anchored in authenticity and purpose.
