Actor Nick Vlassopoulos Opens Up About His Brand New Movie "Faith Under Fire"

On December 8, the new faith-based drama FAITH UNDER FIRE will be available on home entertainment and DVD and in markets where theaters are still open, the film will be available in select theaters November 27-December 1. Faith Under Fire stars Nick Vlassopoulos, Dean Cain, and Kevin Sorbo.
The movie revolves around the story of fireman Tom Hatcher (Vlassopoulos) who is at the end of his rope. He couldn't save his wife from cancer - and worse yet - his six year old daughter, Tiffany, is now facing the same possible fate. When he finds himself in a cold jail cell after attacking a pastor (Cain) out of frustration with a seemingly absent God, Tom begins to reflect on his downward spiral into despair. But with the help and persistent friendship of the very man he assaulted, Tom is challenged to face his grief and embrace faith in the darkest hours of his life.
We are honored to be able to catch up with Nick Vlassopoulos to talk about this movie.
Q: Nick, thanks for doing this interview with us. Briefly, what is your new movie "Faith Under Fire" about?
Faith under Fire is about a fireman, Tom Hatcher, who loses his wife to cancer and now his daughter faces the same fate. Because of this, he questions his fate to God. A "what did I do to deserve this?" moment that many experience in their lives.
Q: What first attracted you to the script of the movie?
As an actor, the emotional ride Tom goes through is what attracted me. And the overall message. That we all go through struggles in life but God is always there for us and puts people there to help us get through these struggles.
Q: What were some of the highlights for you in the making of this movie?
Highlights was definitely being able to work with 2 well known actors. Dean Cain and Kevin Sorbo of course. They were really easy going and made things easy. Hope to work with them again.
Q: How does your faith impact your career?
My faith impacts my career in that I want to do projects that send important messages and that God wants me to do and would be proud of me.
Q: An interesting part of Faith Under Fire is that all proceeds from the film will go to charities. Did it impact you wanting to be a part of the project?
I think it's great that proceeds are going to charity and it definitely made me want to be a part of it. I have a few friends who have lost family to cancer and I know how devastating that was for them.
Q: You also own a restaurant - Apollo Coney Island! How is it balancing an acting career and running a business? How has your business been impacted during Covid?
The restaurant takes up most of my time! But I can make room for a role if it's something that really means something to me. Right now we are impacted by lockdowns, but we have managed with carry out and our steady loyal clientele. We've been in the same location for 48 years, lots of regulars!
Q: What do you feel is the most important message in the film? What do you hope people take away from the project?
The most important message is hope. Things may never be the same for you after tragedy. But time heals. And the love of God will come to you through those he sends your way to support you and help you heal.
