Tasha Cobbs Leonard Steps Into New Era with First-Ever Studio Album "TASHA," out July 25

Today, 3x GRAMMY-winning and Billboard's Gospel Artist of the Decade Tasha Cobbs Leonard announces her first-ever studio album, TASHA - out July 25 via Motown Gospel. Unlike her previous live recordings, TASHA was crafted entirely in-studio, giving Cobbs Leonard and her husband/producer Kenneth Leonard Jr. the freedom to stretch both sonically and lyrically. The result is a 15-track project that draws from gospel, worship, pop, hip-hop, and '80s R&B, offering a bold and fresh sound grounded in faith, emotional honesty, and creative freedom. Alongside the announcement, Cobbs Leonard shares the album's newest single, "The Hand That Keeps Holding," and opens pre-orders beginning today.
A tender reminder that God is near in every season, "The Hand That Keeps Holding Me" captures the heart of Psalm 34:18 with powerful vocals and a message of unwavering grace. Listen to "The Hand That Keeps Holding Me" HERE.
Anchored in themes of resilience, surrender, and soul-deep worship, TASHA is her most personal and creatively expansive work to date. The album features guest appearances from some of music's most celebrated artists, including John Legend, Kirk Franklin, Chandler Moore, and Lecrae. Each collaboration is carefully crafted, reflecting a shared commitment to music that transcends genre and speaks to the spirit.
"This album is the truest expression of who I am right now," says Tasha Cobbs Leonard. "It's vulnerable, it's honest, it's joyful - and it's rooted in everything I believe about God meeting us exactly where we are. We didn't hold back in the writing or the production. Every song is a piece of my journey, and I hope people find their own stories in it too."
From the raw vulnerability of "Broken Pieces" to the genre-blending uplift of "Church" featuring John Legend, TASHAinvites listeners to experience worship in unexpected places - whether that's a sanctuary, a stage, or the quiet corners of everyday life. The recently released single "Already Good (Tasha Slide)" introduced fans to this new era with an infectious line dance anthem that's already making waves on dance floors and church pews alike. Its video was recently featured on Good Morning America (watch here) and highlighted on BET's Times Square billboard.
TASHA is not just a sonic shift - it's a spiritual one. After years of performing live albums, Cobbs Leonard embraced the stillness of the studio to explore new vocal textures, experimental arrangements, and honest storytelling. The result is a worship experience that meets people where they are - joyful, grieving, healing, or searching - and invites them to bring their full selves into the presence of God.
In support of the new album, Tasha Cobbs Leonard will embark on the Whole & Free Tour this fall, bringing an intimate experience of worship, testimony, and Spirit-led healing to cities nationwide. Joined by special guests Naomi Raine, Dr. Jackie Greene, and Kobe Campbell, Tasha and her fellow worship leaders promise evenings centered around community, authenticity, and the powerful presence of God. As Tasha says, "It's not about perfection. It's about presence." Full tour dates listed below.
With 5+ billion career streams, multiple #1 albums, and a GRAMMY for her collaborative hit "One Hallelujah," Tasha Cobbs Leonard remains one of the most influential voices in modern gospel. In the past year alone, she performed "Lift Every Voice and Sing" on national television at the NFL's 2024 season opener, released her debut book Do It Anyway, and continued to co-pastor The Purpose Place Church in South Carolina alongside her husband.
TASHA is a bold reminder that gospel music - and the stories it tells - continue to evolve. And so does Tasha. Pre-order.
