Harry Connick Jr. Gets Nominated at the GMA Dove Awards for the First Time
Harry Connick Jr. may not be foreign to winning awards but this is the first time he gets nominated for a GMA Dove Award. This year at the 52nd Annual GMA Dove Awards Connick gets nominated in three categories: Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year for "Alone With My Faith, Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for "Because He Lives" and Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for "Alone With My Faith."
Harry Connick Jr. exclaims, "Wow! I'm so excited and thankful to be nominated for my "Alone With My Faith" album and for song of the Year at this year's GMA Dove Awards! What an honor to be nominated alongside such incredible artists like Carrie Underwood, The Jordan Family Band, The Nelons & The Isaacs! Thank you Gospel Music Association!!!"
Written and recorded during the COVID-19 quarantine, Connick's latest album Alone with My Faith combines originals including the title track and Benevolent Man, with classics like Old Time Religion and Amazing Grace that journal Harry's experience of doubt, peace and hope throughout life and lockdown. He had always wanted to write a gospel album, "but then I started to think maybe I should write a little bit more broadly, and include the whole idea of faith and what it means at a time like we're in right now."
Voting for the final winners will run August 19th through August 26th. The GMA Dove Awards are happening live and in person in Nashville, TN, October 19th, 2021. A limited number of tickets and Fan Experiences are still available. The broadcast will air exclusively on TBN, Friday, October 22nd, 2021 8:00p.m. ET and then again at 10:00p.m. ET.
