'House of Cards' Netflix Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers & Reveals
Netflix hit series "House of Cards" got renewed for Season 3 back in February and fans are looking any news that they can get in the meantime until the new season releases in 2015.
Kevin Spacey tweeted earlier this week about going to Washington, D.C. to start filming. He hinted, "What a blast it was to do ... Now back to Washington for... well, you know."
Only a small amount of filming for the show is actually done in Washington D.C., as most of the shooting is done in Maryland. Season 3 of "House of Cards" will again film in Maryland. Initially, the filming of the third season of the Netflix series was haulted with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland, but the issue was eventually resolved on April 25.
The length of the series hasn't been made clear yet. The show is expected to return to Netflix in February of 2015.
Show creator Beau Willimon spoke briefly with New York Times' David Carr at an event last week at the Natural History Museum in New York.
Willimon hesitantly revealed the more philosophical turns the show might take in the next season, particularly dealing with Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) jourey to the top. He hinted that Underwood might struggle to find purpose in his life as he reaches his goal of presidency.
"What do you do when you're on top of it?" Willimon said. "Who are you? You can no longer say, 'I'm the guy trying to reach the summit.'"
At this point the showrunner also spoke about Frank's legacy and how its meaning might elude him.
"Now, it had to have meaning. It used to be that the meaning was getting there," Willimon said.
The popular Netflix series about the corrupted side of government will pick up with Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) having masterfully maneuvered his way into the Vice Presidency, with many people not happy about it. Investigative reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) is inching closer to the truth about Frank and Peter Russo (Corey Stoll) and will stop at nothing to break the story. Frank's wife Claire (Robin Wright), the newly appointed Second Lady, must deal with the bright glare of the spotlight and how the intense scrutiny eats away at their once private existence.
"House of Cards" is Netflix's first original series and received some nice validation with it's recent Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Drama Series". This was the first time a program from only a digital platform received a high-profile Emmy nomination.
