John Sloan, Editor of Zondervan Books, is Retiring

After a 34-year editorial career at Zondervan, John Sloan, senior executive editor, has announced his plan to retire, effective December 15, 2017.

Sloan has been a key figure at Zondervan, acquiring and personally editing hundreds of books that have fostered spiritual growth, compelled readers to Christ, and changed lives. John has played a vital role in helping authors create bestselling content in books like What's So Amazing about Grace by Philip Yancey, The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas, The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson, and many others.

Over the years, Sloan played an instrumental role in helping author's hone their voice in order to help them connect and communicate effectively with readers, cultivating feeling and bringing poignancy to each title. Sloan's interest in story, narrative nonfiction, strong beginnings, tension, pacing, and good endings made for compelling books for readers of Zondervan books.

Sloan plans to continue bringing his editorial expertise to projects in a freelance role going forward, while also spending time with his church, his family, his wife Lauren, and their grandchildren in Colorado Springs.
