Hillsong Worship and Hillsong UNITED Garner Multiple Wins at GMA's 48th Annual Dove Awards
Multi-platinum selling Hillsong Worship and Hillsong UNITED continue to build momentum with unprecedented record sales and multiple award wins/nominations. UNITED took home the Dove for "Long Form Video of the Year" with "Of Dirt & Grace" while Hillsong Worship received top honors with two award wins for their chart-topping single, "What A Beautiful Name" during Gospel Music Association's (GMA) 48th Annual Dove Awards.
Nominated in four categories, the worship collective walked away with "Song of the Year" and "Worship Song of the Year," bringing the audience to its feet in a time of praise & worship as they led a powerful rendition of the award-winning single that continues to be the fastest growing song in modern church history (72 million views on YouTube).
Hosted by award-winning artist Kari Jobe and gospel music's Tasha Cobbs Leonard, the Dove Awards were held at Allen Arena at David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee on Oct. 17 and will air Oct. 22 on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).
"The response to this song ('What A Beautiful Name') has taken us by surprise and we are incredibly honored, humbled and blessed," says Hillsong Worship's Ben Fielding.
"We labored hard over the lyric and crafted it line by line as a testimony of God's majesty, wonder and greatness. A revelation in that everything that can be given a name, comes under His name. A declaration of hope, no matter what it is that you're facing in life. If you've been given a report of sickness, or have been labeled...whatever that name is that you've been given, comes under the beautiful, wonderful and powerful name of Jesus!"
With more than 4.5 million career album sales and over 1 billion career streams, Hillsong Worship has helped shape praise & worship over the last two decades through its catalog of songs that continue to be sung by an estimated 50 million churchgoers worldwide each week. Their award-winning single "What A Beautiful Name" spent nine consecutive weeks at #1 atop the National Christian Audience radio chart and remains the #1 most consumed track in Christian music spending 37 weeks atop the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. The group is slated to release their new Christmas album "The Peace Project," the first from them in nearly five years. The 12-track holiday collection will be available on iTunes, Spotify and anywhere else music is digitally sold on Friday, Oct. 20.
With over 2 million albums sold and 700 million+ career streams to date, Hillsong UNITED continues to establish itself as one of the most influential artists in the history of contemporary Christian music topping multiple charts since the release of their sixth studio project,"WONDER."
