Darius Rucker Raises Funds for St. Jude Children Research Hospital
Country music star Darius Rucker is raising funds to benefit St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Together with Little Big Town, Brett Eldredge, A Thousand Horses, the Brothers Osborne, Scotty McCreery and Steve Wariner, Rucker will be putting on a concert entitled 2015 Darius Rucker and Friends benefit.
The sixth annual event took place at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon and raised over $220,000. The amount raised also includes funds from a golf tournament that took place the following day.Last year, the two-day event raised $120,000. By nearly doubling that amount this year, Rucker has raised over $660,000 for St. Jude since starting the event.
"Growing up, my mother instilled in me the importance of giving back. Whether it was mowing a neighbor's yard or helping during the loss of a loved one, it's important on so many levels," Rucker says. "Just like St. Jude, I've been given so much from the music community over the years, so this is one of the ways I know how to say thanks.
"Not only is this one of my favorite shows all year, but it's a great platform to remind so many of the incredible work done by St. Jude," he adds. "[They do] such amazing work for young cancer patients and their families, and I'm grateful to all my fellow artists and friends for coming together to have some fun and support such a great cause."
