Latest News on iOS 8: Slow Adoption Rate, Features and Why Most Users are Not Using It

Apple's new iOS 8 was released a couple of weeks back and the feedback is not good. Compared to previous iOS update, iOS 8 is not very popular with users. According to ZDNet, only 47 percent have updated their devices to iOS 8. Users are reporting iOS 8.0.1 ruining their devices. Apple tried to remedy the problem by releasing iOS 8.0.2, but still there were issues and concerns reported by the users.

Users are reporting problems with losing cell service after updating to iOS 8 and that their devices crashes frequently. It seems that the problem is not only with older device. Problems with iPhone 6 were also reported. iPhone 6 with iOS 8 sometimes do not respond with no reason at all.

Aside from the problems being experienced by users, some just really do not have the space requirement in their device, necessary for the update. The space requirement for an update is 5 GB, most old devices are not equipped with that kind of storage space. It may come as a surprise to users since, according to Gottabemobile, the installer for iOS 8 is less than 1 GB but keep in mind that it's a compressed file and decompressing the file can take up a lot of space. In the long run, the main issue for consumers is the storage. Maybe iOS 8 is not just built to operate on older devices. Did Apple even tested iOS 8 on Apple's devices, because it seems that they did not.

Well, iOS 8 is not all bugs - at least according to Apple. It has features that can improve user's smartphone experience. According to REP-AM, iOS 8 allows users to send audio messages - making text messaging obsolete. iOS 8 aims to be more personalized by adding Apple Health which monitors vital signs and daily calories being burned during workout.

The question is will the features outweigh the "bugs" that come with updating to iOS 8. The verdict is out there, but with less than 50 percent of users opting to update to iOS 8, I guess we all know the answer to that. Is Apple going to issue another version of iOS 8 to hopefully fix the bugs - again? As for now, users are choosing iOS 7 over iOS 8.
