Windows 9 Update: Release Date, Preview, and Features of Project ‘Threshold’ 2015

Windows 9 Update: Release Date, Preview, and Features of Project 'Threshold' 2015
Microsoft recently gave out invitations to their September 30 event, and many are expecting the rumored Windows 9 to show up in the said event. Microsoft is going to have a "Windows Technical Preview", and although Microsoft hasn't mentioned anything about the Windows 9 in the invitation, it is said that the president of Microsoft France told his employees that the Windows 9 will be a part of the event.
Also, according to a leaked document, the preview of Windows 9 might be available between April and September next year. If this is the case, the new OS might be launched around December next year. Meanwhile, Windows expert Paul Thurrott sees the Windows 9 to be available for the market by April 2015. This means that the preview may be available this year. Whichever is the case, we can expect the Windows 9 to be officially released in 2015.
Same source included some details regarding the upcoming OS upgrade. The details suggest that there might be changes in the Metro UI, Windows defender, OneDrive and better Windows activation. Cortana was also mentioned in the said document, suggesting that the Windows Phone 8.1's personal assistant might be part of the new Windows 9.
So far, here are the things we already know about the upcoming Windows 9. For starters, the Start Menu is said to return to the new Windows OS. It will be a mixed breed of the previous Windows 7 and 8 Start Screens, and the user can resize the Start Menu. It is also reported that the Charms bar will be removed from the previous Windows 8, but this is only for the desktop version. Meanwhile, the Task view will allow users to switch between apps, and the Task view can be opened with a button on the Taskbar. File Explorer can be opened with a new Home view. It will allow the user to see things like favorite folders, recent files and folders.
Also, check out the leaked videos of Windows 9. They show a unified Notification center, demonstrating the multi-desktop (Task view), and the start menu.
Keep yourself posted for updates. For now, Windows 9 (also leaked as the "Threshold" project) is expected to have a release date in 2015.
