AC/DC New Album 'Rock or Bust' Release Date 2014, First Album Without Founding Guitarist Malcolm Young
AC/DC have announced that they will be releasing their new album Rock or Bust, releasing on December 2nd. This is their first album in six years and was their first ever album done without founding guitarist Malcolm Young.
The new album will feature 11 new tracks and their single "Play Ball" will be part of Turner Sport's Major League Baseball Postseason campaign starting this week, September 27th.
Rock or Bust was recorded in the Spring at Vancouver's Warehouse Studio with producer Brendan O'Brien and mixer Mike Fraser. They both were also a part of AC/DC's 2008 release, Black Ice.
The band also announced Young's permanent departure from the group earlier this year. Illness had forced the guitarist to step away from the band and his condition has not improved.
A statement on the Australian band's website said: "Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band. AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of Rock or Bust in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on Rock or Bust and will accompany the band on tour."
"We miss Malcolm, obviously," frontman Brian Johnson told Classic Rock in July. "He's a fighter. He's in [the] hospital, but he's a fighter. We've got our fingers crossed that he'll get strong again.... Stevie, Malcolm's nephew, was magnificent, but when you're recording with this thing hanging over you and your work mate isn't well, it's difficult. But I'm sure he was rooting for us."
AC/DC has sold over 200 million albums worldwide in their career. Their albums have been few and far between in recent years releasing only three albums since 1990.
