Oliver Tree's final podcast interview has taken on heartbreaking new significance following the singer's tragic death in a helicopter crash earlier this month.
Days before the fatal accident in Rio de Janeiro claimed the 32-year-old artist's life, Tree sat down with Bobbi Althoff for an episode of Really Good Podcast. While dressed in one of his signature outrageous costumes-an Elmo suit complete with red face paint-the eccentric performer mixed his trademark humor with surprisingly reflective comments about life, mortality, and taking risks.
At one point during the conversation, Tree revealed that his parents often worried about his constant travels. His response now feels eerily prophetic.
"My parents, they're like, 'Oliver, it's a lot to travel all the time,'" he said. "I'm like, 'Guys, look. We don't know if I'll be alive next year, or if you'll be alive. There's no day promised.'"
Tree went on to describe the adventurous lifestyle he embraced, saying he had spent the previous two years living in remote villages and traveling to places many would never consider visiting.
The interview was recorded before the June 14 helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro that killed Tree, two pilots, and three other passengers. The musician had recently wrapped the final performances of his global tour promoting his latest album, making his last concert appearance in São Paulo just days before the tragedy.
Following his death, Tree's family announced that his estate will fund Dr. Oliver Tree's Extremely Epic Grant for Baby Geniuses, a program dedicated to supporting emerging artists-a cause the singer had publicly discussed while he was alive. Tree had previously explained that he wanted his wealth to be reinvested in future creatives rather than inherited by family members.
Bobbi Althoff also revealed that every dollar generated from the podcast episode will be donated to the grant, honoring the late musician's wish to help aspiring artists continue creating.
For many fans, the interview serves as a poignant final glimpse of Oliver Tree-still making people laugh, but also sharing a reminder that has become impossible to ignore: "There's no day promised."
