E! Entertainment Television today announced that its flagship nightly entertainment news broadcast, E! News, will air its final linear television episode on September 25, 2025, concluding a historic 34-year run as one of cable's most recognizable entertainment news franchises.
Launched in 1991, E! News has chronicled the evolution of Hollywood and global pop culture for more than three decades, delivering celebrity news, red-carpet coverage and exclusive interviews to audiences across the United States and around the world.
Strategic Digital Transformation
In response to changing media consumption habits, E! is shifting its entertainment news strategy toward digital platforms and real-time social coverage, where audiences now increasingly engage with news and celebrity content throughout the day. E! will continue to maintain robust entertainment reporting across its digital properties, including its website, social media channels and branded digital shows such as The Rundown, Hot Goss and RE!CAP.
"As the way audiences access news and entertainment continues to evolve, we are transforming E! News to meet viewers where they are most engaged - on digital and social platforms," said a network representative. "While we honor the legacy of E! News, this shift enables us to expand our storytelling in new formats and serve fans with more timely and interactive content."
Red Carpet and Special Coverage to Remain
Even after the final broadcast, E! will maintain a presence in marquee entertainment events. The network plans to continue high-profile red-carpet specials under the Live From E! banner and expand event coverage at major awards shows - including the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
Talent and Staff Transition
E! has informed the E! News team of the closure. Some correspondents and production staff will be offered opportunities across E!'s digital division and within the broader newly formed media company that now encompasses E! and other cable networks in the Versant portfolio.
A Legacy of Pop Culture Reporting
E! News has been helmed by notable personalities over its run and has earned a place in the fabric of entertainment media - from breakthrough celebrity moments to trend-setting cultural conversations.
