Federal law enforcement authorities have released new surveillance photos and video showing a masked and possibly armed individual at the home of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31, 2026. The images represent the first publicly released footage related to the ongoing criminal investigation.

"Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department have worked with private sector partners to recover video data that may have been inaccessible," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a social media post announcing the release. The images were recovered from residual backend data after the Nest doorbell camera at Ms. Guthrie's residence was disconnected early on the morning she disappeared.

Details of the Images

The released footage shows an individual:

  • Wearing a mask and gloves

  • Carrying a backpack

  • Appearing to tamper with and obscure the front-door camera before it was disabled
Authorities believe the person was on the porch in the hours just before Ms. Guthrie was discovered missing.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement agencies continue to treat the case as an active criminal investigation:

  • Blood found on the front porch has been confirmed by DNA testing to match Nancy Guthrie's, suggesting foul play at the residence.

  • The FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department have not yet identified any suspects, vehicles or persons of interest in connection with the disappearance.

  • Authorities have received alleged ransom communications, but officials have not verified any of these messages as authentic.

A reward of up to $50,000 has been offered for information leading to Ms. Guthrie's safe return or the arrest of those responsible.

Family Appeals for Help

Ms. Guthrie's daughter, television host Savannah Guthrie, and her siblings have made public appeals for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. In recent video messages, the family emphasized that they believe Nancy is still alive and are willing to work with law enforcement and the public to secure her return.

"We believe she's still out there," said Ms. Guthrie in a recorded message. "Please, if you know anything - no matter how small it may seem - contact the FBI or local authorities."
