GRAMMY®-nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE have announced their tenth studio album, The Long Surrender, set for release March 27 via MCA. Alongside the announcement, the band has released the album's title track today, now streaming on all major platforms, and launched preorder packages at shopneedco.com.
In a message to fans, frontman Bear Rinehart described the album as a project that arrived unexpectedly during a season of personal and creative reckoning.
"Our tenth studio album, The Long Surrender, will be out on March 27th. This record's different from any other because we didn't set out to actually make one," Rinehart shared. "The whole process of the record was surrendering-surrendering to the process and to all sorts of things going on in our lives... It felt like the record was a gift that wasn't ours to control."
Produced by Dave Cobb and recorded at his Savannah studio, the 12-track album features 11 solo compositions by Rinehart, along with a co-write from John Luke Carter. Previously released tracks include "The Long Surrender," "Where You Call Home," and "Momma Loves Me," featuring The Red Clay Strays.
"NEEDTOBREATHE feels vital on this album," said Cobb. "They came in with open hearts and gratitude, focused on nothing but the truth. You can feel it in Bear's voice and in the musicianship throughout the record."
Rinehart added that the songs were born from a deeply personal, therapeutic writing season. "I wasn't even thinking about writing a record-I was just trying to get my head around what I wanted my life to look like going forward," he said. "This album clarified that I have to put my convictions in front of anything else. In many ways, it feels like our very first record."
The Long Surrender explores themes of perseverance, humility, and release-offering what the band hopes will be a place of rest for listeners navigating uncertainty. "Surrender isn't something you try first," Rinehart noted. "It's usually what comes when you reach the end of yourself. That's where this record came from."

In support of the album, NEEDTOBREATHE will launch the second leg of The Barely Elegant Acoustic Tour on February 4 in Mobile, Alabama. The run will include stops in Tampa, Louisville, Tulsa, and more, before concluding March 7 in Fort Worth, Texas.
