GRAMMY Award-winning gospel singer and pastor Donnie McClurkin is publicly denying allegations of sexual assault following the filing of a civil lawsuit in New York County Supreme Court earlier this month.

The lawsuit, filed by a former assistant, accuses McClurkin of sexual abuse and misconduct allegedly occurring over a period of several years beginning in the mid-2000s. The plaintiff claims the alleged actions took place in the context of a mentoring and ministry relationship and is seeking unspecified monetary damages under New York civil statutes.

Through his legal counsel, McClurkin has categorically denied the allegations, calling them "contrived," "fabricated," and "entirely untrue." In a statement released publicly, McClurkin said he has lived a life of integrity and faith and expressed confidence that the claims will not withstand legal scrutiny.

"This lawsuit is filled with falsehoods and distortions," McClurkin said in a statement conveyed through his attorney. "I have never committed sexual assault or abuse. I trust that the truth will prevail."

McClurkin, who has been a prominent figure in gospel music and ministry for more than three decades, is widely known for chart-topping albums, multiple GRAMMY Awards, and his pastoral leadership in New York. He has also been a visible voice in faith-based discussions surrounding morality and sexuality.

At this stage, the matter remains a civil case, and no criminal charges have been filed. The court has not yet ruled on any motions related to the lawsuit, and the case is in its early procedural phase.

Legal experts note that civil cases of this nature can take months or longer to resolve, depending on pre-trial motions, discovery, and whether the case proceeds to trial or settlement.

McClurkin has asked for prayers and privacy as the legal process unfolds and has stated that he intends to vigorously defend himself against the allegations.

Further developments are expected as the case moves forward.
