Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, in partnership with award-winning director Rick Altizer, announced today the upcoming theatrical release of the new documentary film He Calls Me Daughter. Premiering in theatres nationwide for a special two-night event on March 17-18, 2026, the film explores the critical role of a father in a woman's life-and the hope, healing, and restored identity found in Christ.
Following the success of Altizer's acclaimed documentary Show Me The Father, which examined stories of fatherhood and their connection to God's fatherhood, Altizer recognized that another essential story needed to be told-one centered on daughters and the lasting influence of their fathers.
He Calls Me Daughter follows the stories of several women, each reflecting on their experiences with the father figures in their lives. From love-filled relationships to painful and abusive ones, the film powerfully illustrates how fathers shape their daughters' sense of worth, security, and identity.
"The role of a father is one that cannot be overstated," said Altizer. "Strong families are the foundation of a healthy society, and fathers play the most vital role in this family structure. He Calls Me Daughter shows just how enormous an impact fathers have on their daughters' sense of worth and identity."

The documentary underscores the biblical importance of fathers in guiding children with faith-based values and cultivating a Christ-centered sense of belonging. For women especially, the presence-or absence-of a father's love can have lifelong consequences.
"Many women who have a father wound don't necessarily know it," said Dr. Meeker. "They feel a deep hurt but can't name it. Every daughter needs affirmation from her dad. Without it, she grows up believing she's not worth loving."
He Calls Me Daughter further explores how unresolved father wounds can manifest as fear of abandonment, trust issues, and difficulty sustaining healthy relationships-often complicating a woman's understanding of the unconditional love of her heavenly Father.
"Women are in dire need of a fatherly presence to guide them and point them to Christ," said Starr. "Without it, many spend their lives trying to fill an irreplaceable hole in their heart."
Ultimately, the film offers hope to both fathers and daughters, reminding viewers that regardless of their earthly family experience, they are first and foremost children of God.
"I began to see that my Heavenly Father loves me in a way no earthly father ever could," shared Pierce. "God is my Father. I am loved. And He calls me daughter. A heavenly Father changes everything."
