Big Church Festival Removes Newsboys from 2025 Lineup Following Allegations Against Michael Tait

The Big Church Festival has officially announced the removal of the band Newsboys from its 2025 artist lineup in light of serious sexual misconduct allegations made against former lead singer, Michael Tait.
The festival, one of the UK's largest Christian music gatherings, issued the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened by the recent revelations concerning Michael Tait. As a festival that seeks to honour God and foster a safe and joyful space for worship, celebration, and community, we cannot in good conscience move forward with the Newsboys on this year's lineup. We stand with survivors and commit to upholding an environment of integrity, healing, and accountability."
Tait, who departed the band earlier this year, recently admitted that many of the allegations-which include grooming, sexual assault, and substance abuse spanning over two decades-are "largely true." His public confession has sent shockwaves through the Christian music community.
In response, major industry stakeholders-including Capitol Christian Music Group-have severed ties with the band. The Big Church Festival's decision aligns with this broader movement of accountability and support for victims.
"We are praying for all those impacted by this grievous situation," the festival added. "While this is a difficult moment, we remain focused on creating a Christ-centered experience for all who attend."
The updated lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
