Citizens' Zach Bolen Reveals How 1 John 1:7 Convicted Him to Write "Light of your Grace"

Seattle-based Christian band Citizens are back with a brand new radio version of "Light of Your Grace." Released by Integrity Music, the new single speaks about how God's grace works in our lives and how God forgives us for our sins, weaknesses, and failures.
Zach Bolen, Citizens' lead vocalist and the song's co-writer, shares how the song came about. During a time of vulnerability, Zach found himself lying to his wife about something. He went through days of trying to convince himself it was okay and rationalising, yet the weight of the guilt didn't get lighter. But when reading 1 John and seeing God's heart for him, he confessed his mistake and was met with grace. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." 1 John 1:7
The press release states,"'Light Of Your Grace' shines hope on our human struggle with honesty - just like this song wouldn't have been written if Zach didn't come clean about his shortcoming, we can miss some of God's most gracious gifts by staying in darkness. He calls us to walk in the light. Citizens' hope for this song is that through it, each of us would know our sin is met with grace. Whether or not the people we've hurt come to a place of forgiving us, we can wade through the consequences hand in hand with God who forgives us."
