Serena Ryder has released the official music video for "Christmas Song" via Serenader Source/Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company. Filmed at Serena Ryder's multi-purpose creative workspace ArtHaus Studio, the video for "Christmas Song" features playful holiday animation by Toronto-based stop motion creative studio See You On The Moon.
"Christmas Song" appears on Ryder's 2018 holiday album, Christmas Kisses, which was ranked #5 by Rolling Stone on their 50 New Christmas Albums, Reviewed list. Christmas Kisses is available on gold-coloured vinyl, CD, and all digital streaming platforms. Listen to the album HERE.
Next week, Ryder will kick off The Christmas Kisses 2019 Tour in Vancouver on November 23.
"I am so excited to get back on the road and tour the Christmas Kisses record!" Ryder says. "The show will consist of mainly songs from Christmas Kisses sprinkled with a bunch of other songs of mine you know and love. I can't wait to see everyone out there!" Christmas Kisses, Ryder's first ever holiday album, was produced by Canadian Music Hall of Fame Inductee Bob Ezrin (Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd). On collaborating with Ryder on her first holiday album, Bob Ezrin said, "Serena is so versatile and has such a command of her instrument that anything is possible with her. So, we picked what we thought would be the most elegant approach to Christmas classics - one that shone the brightest light on the songs themselves and on her magnificent voice."
Recorded in Toronto, Christmas Kisses was a true passion project for Ryder who infused her love of jazz into holiday classics that celebrate the spirit of the holidays. "Jazz music has always been one of my biggest vocal influencers," says Ryder. "When I was a young girl, I would spend hours upon hours locked away in my room listening and singing to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simon and Chet Baker. It's been a dream of mine to be able to sing an entire album in this style - and also a dream to be able to embrace the spirit of Christmas in a genuinely joyful way. I had the time of my life singing these classic songs in the style of my greatest influencers and in the company of my best friends. I hope the world feels the love we all put into this record."
