Steve Counsel Releases New Album 'On God Street'
Steve Counsel, an independent Christian music artist, song writer and worship leader, has released 'On God Street'. his new album of devotional rock & roll gospel songs and the long awaited follow up to his critically acclaimed album 'Broken Bones Rejoice'. Recorded in Los Angeles and London, 'On God Street' features twelve new original songs plus a heartfelt country blues rendition of 'Amazing Grace' featuring guitar legend Albert Lee.
"So you took a band into the studio and recorded old school?"
"Yep"
"Just like they did in the 70's & 80's playing live in the studio without loops etc?"
"Yeah, where two or more are gathered Jesus will be there also, there were rarely less than five of us."
'On God Street' is an album of rock & roll hymns ignited with gritty guitar and inspired lyrics, the mixture of rock, country and gospel creates a musical landscape that takes the listener on a journey, into an intimate space of worship and celebration in an unpretentious and fresh way.
"On God Street is a labour of love, completed with funds generously donated by friends through my indiegogo crowd funding campaign", explains Steve. "The original backing tracks were recorded live in the studio with some amazing musicians in Los Angeles by Tom Lillo, who also mixed and mastered the final product. I recorded backing vocals in West Hollywood, Pipe Organ and Hammond Organ in Pasadena, Horns in London and my own Electric Guitar and Vocals in both LA and London."
"Steve's music.....gives it to you raw and real, talking about things like desperation and the majestic nature of God." - Worship Leader Magazine
"If you think the phrase 'dirty guitar' means getting a finger print mark on your nice clean Taylor acoustic during the Contemporary Worship service then beware; this is worship music played from the hip on a Les Paul with the guitar strap worn at its longest setting!" - Andy Piercy, producer (Delirious, Matt Redman, Rita Springer)
"A studio worship album packed with vibe and free from musical cliché... with a raspy soulful passion." - Mike Rimmer, Cross Rhythms
"Steve Counsel is a gritty engaging singer and a roaring harmonica power house." - Ira Robins, New York News Day
