iPhone 6 Plus Bending News: Apple is quick to Comment that the new iPhones uses the "Strongest Glass in the Industry"
The recently launched iPhone 6 was well received as this is the first time that Apple released a larger version compared to previous iPhones. But, there were bashes from other customers about the “bending” issue of the iPhone 6 Plus. A recent youtube video was posted where the iPhone 6 warped out of shape when bent with hands.
Apple is quick to comment with CNBC on this issue stating that the new iPhones include steel/titanium inserts to reinforce stress locations and that they use the "strongest glass in the industry."
According to Apple, only nine customers had complained about bent issues which basically suggests that the issue is not as widespread as it has appeared in the media. The company also mentioned that “that both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have met or exceeded testing for strength and durability, and that bending in the iPhone 6 Plus during normal use is "extremely rare." “Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. Though Apple kept quiet on the issue until last Thursday, the company has been directing its support staff to replace affected phones under warranty following a visual inspection.
