The Flash, CW’s latest TV adaptation of a DC Comics superhero story, premieres October 7, Tuesday, at the 8 PM time slot. The Flash 2014 episode 1 is entitled “City of Heroes” and it will follow Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) as he wakes up from his coma and discovers that he's gained powers of super speed from the particle accelerator explosion at Star Labs. While he’s initially excited by his new powers, he finds out that he's not the only "meta-human" who was created in the accelerator explosion. He further learns that not all meta-humans have what it takes to be heroes. As the incidence of crimes committed by meta-human criminals escalates, Allen decides to use his super power as a force for good in Central City. He also vow to continue with his quest to solve his mother’s murder and clear his father's name.
Aside from Gustin, the others who make up the Flash cast are Candice Patton as his best friend Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Dr. Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West, and John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen, Barry's father, in a recurring role. Incidentally, Shipp played the Barry Allen/Flash character in the 1990 TV series.
