The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Forty Years, with Many Years Still Under its Belt
The American television soap opera The Young and the Restless has been around for more than forty years, with many years still under its belt. Created by William J. Bell and Lee Philip Bell for CBS, the show is set in the fictional Genoa City, led by the core families, the Brooks family and the Foster family.
The show has undergone a series of recasting since it first started, and it is only natural as it has been running for a long time. Despite the recast, one part of the storyline has been continued - the feud between Jill Abbott Fenmore and Katherine Chancellor. It has been dubbed as the longest rivalry in American soap opera.
There are too many spoilers with regard to the next episodes, with a few listed below:
The show has undergone recasting once again as Passions' Justin Hartley joins the show to replace Michael Muhney as Adam Newman. This is not received well by the public as they wish to Muhney's return to the show after being fired back in December 2013. Muhney announced in August 2014 that he was almost rehired, but changed his mind, and announced that he was done being part of the show.
If you haven't watched the show yet, then you're in for a treat as Nick Newman and Sharon finally weds. However, Newman is kidnapped from his home, and winds up being arrested. Watch what happens after the event, and some other events that continue to unfold on the show.
The Young and the Restless has won eight Daytime Emmy Awards, and has been the highest-rated daytime drama in American television. The show has been renewed by CBS through 2017 earlier this year, so its fans could expect more of the show in the coming years.
Former All My Children, General Hospital, and Santa Barbara writer Charles Pratt, Jr. has been named the new head writer of the series, and a co-executive producer. Meanwhile, Passanante, Altman and Thomson have all been relegated as breakdown writers of the show. With these changes, the team could assure its viewers that they will offer quality episodes.
