"Left Behind": The Clash Between the Tribulation Force and the Global Community

"Left Behind" is an American apocalyptic thriller film, based from the 12 best-selling novels written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jetkins. The series deals with the authors’ interpretation of the Bible prophecy as well as Christian dispensationalist End Times, or the pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatological viewpoint of the end of the world.

The clash between the Tribulation Force and the Global Community and its leader Nicolae Carpathia, the Antichrist, is the major conflict in the religious series.
The series has been adapted into three action thriller films. Its first film was "Left Behind: The Movie," which was released last 2000; "Left Behind II: Tribulation Force," which was released last 2002; and its reboot, "Left Behind," which was released on Oct. 3 this year.

The story plot reveals that people around the globe are simply wiped out in the eschatological event called The Rapture. This event involves crashing of vehicles, rioting and robbing. With an attempt to deal with his panic-stricken passengers, airline pilot Rayford Steele tries to land his plane though airports are filled with wreckage. Steele wonders about what happened to his family. His daughter, Chloe, finds her mother and brother.

The members of Left Behind’s cast include Nicolas Cage as Rayford Steele, Chad Michael Murray as Cameron “Buck” Williams, Cassi Thomson as Chloe Steele, Lea Thompson as Irene Steele, Jordin Sparks as Shasta Carvell, Nicky Whelan as hattie Durham, Lance Nichols as Bruce Barnes, William Ragsdale as Chris Smith, Martin Klebba as Melvin Weir, Quinton Aaron as Simon, Judd Lormand as Jim, and Lolo Jones as Lori.

Directed by Vic Armstrong, Left Behind received many comments in the internet.
Cage said in his interviews that he took the role at the wish of his pastor brother.

There are particular interpretations in the Bible that are similar in the movie. One is some people with rise and enter heaven, joining God. Then, others will remain on earth for a period of tribulation before the return of Christ. The fate of humanity has already been written and human redemption as well as human salvation is through Christ’s mercy and forgiveness.
