'Ant-Man' Spoilers: What We Know So Far
The recent success of Marvel movies such as "Captain America," "Iron Man," "Thor" and the "Avengers" have ushered in the creation of yet another superhero in the person of the "Ant-Man." According to reports, production of the movie is already in full swing with veteran actor Michael Douglas playing the role of Hank Pym. While it has its own share of bumps along the way, the production of the movie as of the moment is running smoothly. This has brought varying takes from fans and viewers all over the world. But, to put it in a straightforward manner, marvel fans seem to be taking the movie positively. Here's what we know of "Ant-Man":
Michael Douglas will be playing Hank Pym but he will not be the Ant-Man. It is common knowledge that Dr. Pym was the original Ant-Man. But, later on in life another person took on that role. The movie seems to be in this timeline with Pym already a bit aging and Scott Lang took on the identity of the size-shifting superhero.
Production also made drastic changes from the original story of Ant-Man to allow connection to the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" movie. In the comics, Pym created Ultron himself, but in the movies, Pym was able to meet up with Peggy Carter and Howard Stark. It would seem that Ultron was Howard helped Pym create Ultron in the past and it was only Tony Stark's failed attempt to "jumpstart a dormant program" that brought Ultron out. Therefore, what we have for the movie "Ant-Man" are two timelines, one when Pym was younger, probably when he was Ant-Man; and at a time when he has grown old, and Scott Lang has taken the identity of the hero.
Of course a superhero movie would never be complete without a nemesis. For this movie, speculations have been high as to who among Ant-Man's enemies will appear. While still unconfirmed, the general consensus is that Yellowjacket will be his enemy. The yellowjacket was originally a protégé of Pym who later took over his company and used his technology to create the Yellowjacket costume. Reports are also circulating about two more villains in the movie. This was because of an Instagram post that actress Evangeline Lilly, who is playing the role of Hope Van Dyne, Pym's daughter. The picture, which has since been removed features David Dastmalchian and T.I., with caption #TheCrims. Speculation is that #TheCrims simply means the criminals and that the two will be added villains. This is also unconfirmed as of the moment.
Ant-man will be released July 17, 2015.
