Warner Bros. Rumored to be Planning on Developing a Legion of Superheroes Movie
As reported by Latino-Review and their sources, WB is quietly sending out the DC comic book Legion of Superheroes to screenwriters and their reps for takes, this means that those screenwriters will read the comic books and will come up with an idea for a movie involving the characters and events from the comic. The writers will then pitch the idea to the studio, then the studio will hire the screenwriter who has the best idea or concept for the film adaptation of the comic book.
Warner Bros. have already announced 9 dates for upcoming DC films, and Legion of Superheroes might just be one of those films that are part of their scheduled releases. It has not yet been confirmed as of now, but with the success of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Warner bros. and DC might have been inspired to take more risks. It seems like it's not just Warner bros. who wants to bank in on space adventures, other studios have also been interested to make more space adventure films. Marvel's Guardians has already earned $300 million domestically, already surpassing WB's Man of Steel, and it seems like they want to prove that they can pull off the same gig with Legion of Superheroes.
The Legion of Superheroes made their first appearance in Adventure Comics #247 back in April 1958. The comic is set in the 30th and 31st centuries and is set in space. The Legion was founded by Cosmic Boy, who has the power of super-magnetism, Lightning Lad, who has the ability to generate electricity, and Saturn Girl, who has the ability to summon to control people's thoughts and emotions as well as summon people who are far away. The Legion of Superheroes was created by Otto Binder.
