Classic Comedy ‘Ghostbusters' Celebrates 30th Anniversary
The classic comedy "Ghostbusters" that stars Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson is celebrating its 30th anniversary since being released in 1984. With the celebration, the movie is back on the big screen for a week-long screening all over the US until September 4. Initial news was reported by movie ticket website Fandango.
It's one of those classic and easily favorite comedies of all time, so if you ever find yourself not liking any of the recent movies showing in cinemas; you can choose to have this throwback experience of watching "Ghostbusters" again in cinemas.
The 1984 supernatural comedy that was both a critical and commercial success tells the story of three parapsychologists based in New York City who lead a ghost-catching business. Their group ghostbuster business later becomes successful until they get involved in an overwhelming experience with the ancient god Gozer in a high-rise apartment building filled with ghosts. The film co-stars Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis who live in the haunted apartment building. It was followed by a sequel "Ghostbusters II" in 1989.
A third movie is reported to be in the works according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig is reported to take the director's chair and that it would be an all-female reboot.
However, in recent news; producer Ivan Reitman confirms that "Ghostbusters III" is now not just a rumor, as well as mentioning about starting filming early next year and that he has been meeting Dan Aykroyd. Bill Murray is not yet confirmed to be back for the film. The film is also reported to have a female lead called Dr. Anna.
