‘Fifty Shades of Grey' Star Jamie Dornan Signs Up with Miramax' New Thriller

With all the hype that's surrounding Jamie Dornan these days prior to the release of "Fifty Shades of Grey," it definitely looks like he's up for more good roles even after the film is released. He's just recently cast for Miramax's psychological thriller titled, "The Ninth Life of Louis Drax" - an adaptation from Liz Jensen's best-selling novel of the same title. The film is a UK/Canada co-production.

The film will also mark Miramax's official comeback to the film production business, after being inactive for quite awhile to concentrate on its library assets. Miramax is known for award-winning films such as, "Shakespeare in Love," "Good Will Hunting," "The English Patient," "Bridget Jones' Diary" and more. Dornan will be joined by Alexander Aja (Horns, The Hills Have Eyes) to direct, with screenwriting debut from Max Minghella, who also stars in "Horns."

The film tells the story of Louis Drax, a smart and accident prone child who falls off a cliff nearly killing him on his ninth birthday; but miraculously survives. The accident that put him in a coma causes such turmoil in his family. Dornan will portray Dr. Allan Pascal who treats the boy back to consciousness.

It has also been revealed that Max Minghella's father the late Anthony Minghella had started developing the story of Louis Drax into a movie in 2004 with Sydney Pollack. Minghella will co-produce with Tim Bricknell, Shawn Williamson, Alexandre Aja; and will be executive produced by Rosanne Korenberg.

Filming is set to start in Vancouver this October.
