The Judge Movie Release Date, News, Poster, Trailer, and Update: Robert Downey, Jr. Unveils New Poster for the Film
The Judge is an upcoming comedy drama film starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Robert Duvall.
Yesterday on twitter, Robert Downey, Jr. tweeted a brand new poster (pictured above) for the upcoming film. The poster features both Downey, Jr. and Duvall.
It's about Henry "Hank" Palmer (Downey, Jr.), a successful lawyer, comes back to his hometown of Carlinville, Indiana for his mother's funeral only to discover that his estranged father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Duvall), is suspected of murder. Now Hank is forced to defend his father in court against the ruthless prosecutor, Dwight Dickham, who is determined to lock Joseph away for good.
Pre-production for the film began in 2011 with various screenplay rewrites. In March 2013, the cast was finally announced. The role of Joseph Palmer was originally intended for actor Jack Nicholson, but when he turned down the role, it went to Robert Duvall.
The film also stars Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard, and Billy Bob Thorton.
With Academy Award nominees Robert Downey, Jr. and Vera Farmiga, as well as Academy Award-winning actors Robert Duvall and Billy Bob Thorton in the film, it's fair to say the film may very well have its own list of nominations next year the Oscars. The fall movie season has always been the time for acclaimed works to be released, and this new film seems not to be an exception.
The Judge is directed by David Dobkin and is scheduled to be released on October 10. The film will also be shown on the opening night of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 4.
