Pitch Perfect 2 Release Date, News, Rumors, and Updates: Real Life Collegiate a Capella Group Joins Cast
Pitch Perfect 2 is an upcoming sequel to the highly successful 2012 movie Pitch Perfect.
Penn Masala is a South Asian all-male a Capella group that was handpicked by director Elizabeth Banks to join the cast. They will play the rival of the Barden Bellas. A few months back, Pentatonix also joined the cast to make a cameo in the sequel. They will be the only real-life collegiate a Capella group to participate in the new film.
In an email sent to The Daily Pennsylvanian president of the Penn Masala group Dilip Rajan gave some details on what they did during filming by saying, "We all flew into Baton Rouge for a week this summer, where we filmed by night and mostly slept and hung out by day," he also added what people can expect from their performance saying that audiences can expect them to perform a "combination of English and Hindi music" that will be performed "in a different way than our style." The new film seems to be putting more effort into finding real talents to join the cast, and hopefully it will give the sequel a refreshing taste to the audiences.
In 2012, Pitch Perfect grossed over $113 million during its run and prompted a sequel which began pre-production by April of 2013. Filming began on May 21, 2014.
Pitch Perfect 2 will have returning cast members Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, and Adam Devine. New cast members include Chrissie Fit, Hailee Steinfeld, and Katy Sagal.
