The Legend of Korra Video Game Release Date, Gameplay, News and Updates: New Gaming Mode Announced

The Legend of Korra Book 3 Finale just can't get out of our heads, but fortunately we won't have to wait that long to immerse ourselves back into their world. Game developer Platinum Games along with distributor Activision worked on the new video game The Legend of Korra.

The Legend of Korra video game is a third-person beat 'em up where players will take control of Korra. Players will encounter various enemies from the television show like the mecha tanks and the chi blockers as they progress through the game. Players can also switch between the 4 different bending styles of water, earth, fire, and air to battle through the game.

The game was officially announced back in June with series creator Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino collaborating with writer Tim Hedrick to provide the game's storyline and main villain. The game's plot is set between the events of The Legend of Korra Books 2 and 3.

Yesterday, it was revealed that the game will have an unlockable game mode where players can compete in the pro-bending arena. The new game mode will be unlocked when the initial campaign mode is finished at least once. Fans of the show will be all too familiar with the game mode which features the same rules from the television series. Pro-bending will have competitors battle for territories on both side, and the team who gets all three territories of the opposing team wins. Each round will have three minutes and if there in a tie by the end of the round, competitors will have to battle one-on-one in a face-off much like in the official rules mentioned in the television series.

It has also been revealed in an interview with IGN that the release date of the game will be on October 21 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, while the Xbox 360 and Xbox One version will be available in October 22.
