Industry Veterans Launch Main Street Music & Entertainment

Main Street Music & Entertainment

For more than a year, the idea of starting an entertainment company has been the topic of conversation between friends and bandmates, Johnny Minick and Michael Sykes.  Both accomplished artists and musicians, the two also possess a love for the production side of the music as well, and entertained visions of building a full-service home for artists to create the highest quality of music and visual entertainment. When opportunities began to present themselves, Minick & Sykes enlisted the help of long-time friend and attorney, Hunter Lundy, as well as experienced industry professionals Q and Dani Phillips, to launch Main Street Music & Entertainment.

The goal of Main Street Music & Entertainment is to equip artists with the tools needed to grow and thrive within today's music industry.  "The music industry today is vastly different than in the past, and rapidly changing." shares Q Phillips.  "If we don't change with it, we are only doing a disservice to our artists, as well as their fans.  We want to break the traditional model with new and innovative ideas."

Dani Phillips adds, "We also want to provide a home to artists that may have not been best served by the traditional models in the past; to give them a place to continue to create music and reach an audience that is thirsty for something different."

Main Street Music & Entertainment is comprised of multiple record label imprints, as well as two publishing companies and a streaming television station.  The company has plans to add studio and warehouse space to its operations later this year.

Multiple imprints of the company fall under the Southern Gospel genre: 65South Records, Berry Hill Records and Penn Street Records, with the Exit 209 imprint serving as home to more Contemporary and Inspirational artists.  A Western music imprint, .45 Caliber Records, and Country label, Skinny Chicken Records, round out the family of labels.  Music Publishing will be housed under the Surge Music Publishing and Broad Street Music Publishing names.

The team understands that these goals are no small undertaking. "The experience each partner brings to the table is what makes this vision obtainable," offers Michael Sykes. "From songwriting, to production and recording, to marketing and sales, right down to the artists touring the music and connecting with fans, at least one of us have experience in every aspect of the music process.  Those perspectives feed into our ideas and approach, creating a really unique and effective team."

In addition to the record labels and publishing, Main Street Music & Entertainment will also be looking to create new, original content for its streaming television station. The station will serve as a home for its artists' music videos and live performance based shows, as well as a variety of unique concept shows, currently in the works.

Main Street will announce the first artist signings to its roster in the coming weeks.
