nobigdyl. Releases New Album

Nashville hip-hop artist nobigdyl. has released SOLAR, his second full-length album and first on Capitol CMG. Out today, SOLAR features 12 tracks that explore his journey from darkness into the light. Lead singles "enemies?," twenty eighteen.," and "psycho heart!" have all garnered praise from outlets such as NYLON Magazine, Ebro Darden on Beats 1, and the Nashville Scene.
The Nashville Scene notes the album's fluid nature saying, "The tracks on SOLAR alternate freely among a variety of styles. The opening tandem of "anime" and "block me back" bounces along on skeletal grooves that fall in line with contemporary hip-hop trends. But Phillips sounds equally at home rhyming over a flamenco-laced acoustic hook ("bad motives"); dense, swirling dream pop ("psycho heart!"); or an atmospheric soundscape so hazy and weightless it lingers like mist from a nearby waterfall ("shadow")."
SOLAR showcases production from Shaun Lopez (French Montana), Sam Farrar (Maroon 5), 1995, and Grammy Award winner Dirty Rice. The album features artists including John Givez, Medisin, Weatherman, Jesstaylo & Sarah Juers, and fellow indie tribe member WHATUPRG. Following the release of SOLAR, nobigdyl. will hold album release shows in Nashville, Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Memphis.
About nobigdyl.
Raised just outside of Nashville, dyl. stayed local to attend Middle Tennessee State University earning a degree in Music Business. Soon after graduating he took to the road, tour managing for Grammy Award Winning hip-hop artist Derek Minor. nobigdyl. had all but given up on a rap career until Derek Minor gave him use of his personal studio. One day, Minor came by the studio unannounced while nobigdyl. was working on some new material. Minor was so impressed by what he heard that he told nobigdyl. he'll never be able to take that next step if he keeps tour managing. So with his best interests at heart, Minor fired nobigdyl. and that was the day his rap career began.
What dyl. is most passionate about is the movement he started back in 2014 called Indie Tribe. nobigdyl. refers to it as a movement because the genesis of Indie Tribe wasn't about artists at all, but rather the idea that a group of creators could operate independent of stereotypes and limitations. Slowly over the past few years Indie Tribe has grown to become a collective of artists, producers, videographers, and graphic designers all pushing each other forward and acting as a support network in hip-hop. His new signing and first album released on Capitol CMG is a sign of Indie Tribe's influence on the Hip-Hop scene in Nashville, and nobigdyl.'s creativity and growth as an artist. SOLAR blends poetry, percussion, and poignant lyrics into the same mix, with nobigdyl. writing songs that examine the ups, downs, and in-betweens of human relationships. There's plenty of hardship here, but the songs push upward, focusing on hope in the midst of trouble.
