John Mayer Trio Performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, First in 5 Years, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The John Mayer Trio gave "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on NBC a boost last night by doing a special performance in Meyers debut week. This is the Trio's first television performance in several years and they chose to cover the song "After Midnight" along with guest musicians Chick Corea, Wallace Roney, and Manolo Badrena joining them.
The John Mayer Trio is made up of Mayer, Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan. To date, they have only released one live album, Try, in November 2005. The album was nominated for 'Best Rock Album' at the 49th Grammy Awards.
After a long twitter hiatus, Mayer is back this year and has been sharing with his fans about a new John Mayer trio album, "Excited to announce that the TRIO will be performing on Late Night with @sethmeyers on its debut week... as well as hitting the studio for a few days with some legendary guests to record an LP," he wrote in a series of tweets.
The groove and musicianship of the John Mayer Trio is just so natural and I am excited to hear what the new album is going to sound like and what songs will be chosen. Hopefully tour dates will be announced as well.
