'Apple OS X Yosemite' Latest News: Yosemite Brings a Flatter, More Beautiful and More Modern Look to Your Screen

Apple releases the "OS X Yosemite" and it's free for most Mac owners. The latest "OS X Yosemite" was available to the public just after the Apple event last October 16 at Cupertino, California.

Yosemite brings a flatter, more beautiful and more modern look to your screen, of course with that Apple trademark translucent effect. It is jam packed with new and exciting features for Apple users.

The most notable of them all is the Continuity - this feature that makes "Mac" and "iOS" device a perfect pair. You can do the so called "Handoff", on which whatever work was left out on Mac can be easily continued on the " iOS" device or vice versa given that they are sharing the same WI-fi network. Using the "iCloud", you can access your files between the "Mac" and the "iOS" device or vice versa. Messages and phone calls can also be answered thru your "Mac", it serves as a speakerphone during phone calls.

Another convenient feature to look at is the Spotlight - it is the little magnifying glass on the upper right corner of the screen. Before, spotlight only searches the entire computer's data storage, but now with the current improvement it widens the search area up to Wiki, applications, "iTunes", "iCloud", Internet and more.

As provided in Ars Technica, here's a complete list of Apple devices that can avail of the free download at Mac Apple Store.

  • "IMac" (Mid-2007 or later)
  • "MacBook" (Late 2008, Early 2009 or later)
  • "MacBook Pro" (13 inch, Mid 2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
  • "MacBook Air" (Late 2008 or later)
  • "Mac Mini" (Early 2009 or later)
  • "Mac Pro" (Early 2008 or later)
  • "Xserve" (Early 2009)

Nonetheless, despite all the good things it offers, some users are planning to opt out because of negative feedback. Looking into PC World reports seems like the new "OS X" cuts your WI-fi connectivity. There have been multiple active threads in the Apple Support forum regarding the said problem. The problem persists despite all the troubleshooting remedy --- reinstalling "OS X", disabling Bluetooth and such. As of now, Apple did not release any official response or comment about the problem and the support site is still flooding with cries for help and answers.
