NBA Trade Rumors: Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green and Possibly Klay Thompson up on the Trading Bloc

It's about a week to go to the start of the 2014-15 NBA season and general managers from the whole league are falling all over themselves trying to find ways to reduce the roster number down to the standard 15 players. There have also been some rumors on the trading front about several big names who are available on the block this time. On the first point, apparently, Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey is reportedly trying to cut down the roster down to 15, which may prove much harder than previously thought because of all the guaranteed deals with the players.

On Thursday, Morey waived Akil Mitchell and Josh Powell and is expected to do same guard Geron Johnson. At this time, the Boston Celtics duo including Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green lead the list while the Piston's forward Josh Smith might also be up this time. Of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters and the Nuggets off guard Randy Foye are being viewed as some of the potential trade baits. Apparently even rookies like Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel are tradable in the eyes of general manager Sam Hinkie. At the present, with a few days left before October 31st, the teams are also rushing to sign the players eligible as concerns contract extension.

In other news, Klay Thompson was mentioned in several NBA trade rumors earlier in the offseason; however the former coach Mark Jackson is a firm believer that the shooting guard should actually stay with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson is coming off the best NBA season of his young carrier apparently and could become a restricted free agent in the coming summer if the Warriors do not strike a contract extension with him until the deadline on October 31st. when asked about the contract situation, Jackson claimed the guard would not go elsewhere because he supposedly expects the Golden State Warriors to secure his services for the next several years.
