Sunset Overdrive, Soon Available but Exclusively Just for Xbox One
Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Microsoft, Sunset Drive release date is scheduled for October 28, 2014. It will be available only for the Xbox One platform in Blue-ray Disc. There will be no Sunset Overdrive PC version nor Sunset Overdrive PS4 edition that will be forthcoming at a later date. Game developer Insomniac through a tweet said, "Wasn't about money, was about our controlling and owning the IP, and their [Microsoft] belief and desire to execute our vision with us." At the Microsoft Store, an Xbox One Special Edition Sunset Overdrive Bundle is now available for pre-order at $399.00, and it includes the first white Xbox One console and controller. The special bundle also comes with bonus content including the overcharged "Nothin' but the Hits" gun, "Fizzie" character outfit, and "Hardcore! Hammer," an improvised melee weapon for smashing enemies. The upcoming release of the game is being heralded by a Sunset Overdrive trailer now showing on Youtube and other video sharing sites.
The Sunset Overdrive gameplay takes place in a fictional open-world metropolis called Sunset City in the year 2027. Players in the first-person shooter game can control a fully customizable FizzCo employee to fight the "OD'd," which are humans transformed into monsters after consuming an energy drink with the brand name "OverCharge Delirium XT." In the game, players can wall-run and use zip-lines and grind rails in navigating about the city. They are also given a large arsenal of weapons for fighting the monsters. However, all weapons will eventually run out of ammunition and players can unlock more weapons by progressing through the story or purchasing them from shops. Weapons can also be upgraded by applying "Amps" that increase their lethality. In the online Sunset Overdrive co-op mode, up to eight players can form "Chaos Squad" to defend the Overcharge Delirium XT vats from waves of OD'd. While they are working together, players also aim to earn more 'Style' points than their co-op partners during the play as part of the game objective. More about the game are discussed in the Sunset Drive wikisite.
