Previously aired on the History Channel, the eight-part miniseries premiered last 2011 gained protests from the Kennedys themselves. The show had been pulled out for the reason that the miniseries does not fit into the channel, only to be aired on ReelzChannel and received good record ratings since its premiere three years ago.

According to USA Today, its Chief Executive Stan E. Hubbard said that "Jackie O will continue to grow as what we all know about her.

It seems that many reviews have not been so receptive even citing Katie Holmes having the role as a negative connotation, like the bad-roles-to-good-people type of thing. As Jackie Bouvier Kennedy, Katie Holmes is just a mimic character trying hard to copy the distinct accent of Jackie O.

Aside from the negative reception from major reputable critic sites, it also does not seem to fit the taste of the historians, as well.

"The Kennedys," historians said, was inaccurately executed and it lacks historical research and depiction in their presentation just by reading the script.

The series is still on its preproduction stage and casting has not been made yet.

Adapted from the book by Randy Taraborrelli, this four-hour miniseries will commence filming next year and set to premiere in 2016. Holmes is one of the executive producers and will direct a single episode, while John Cassar will handle the remaining three.

Other actors included in "The Kennedys" are Gregg Kinnear (John F. Kennedy), Barty Pepper (Bobby Kennedy) who bagged the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, and Tom Wilkinson (Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.).

'"The Kennedys" is a show about the triumphs and tragedies that the family faced in their political and everyday life. Some of the most intriguing events that happened to them will be shown to the audience not just in the United States but in Canada and some parts of the United Kingdom, as well.
