London has Fallen Release Date, Reveals, News, Reviews, Plot and Rumors: Najafi to Take up Task of Director after Fuqua Turns Down Job
London has Fallen is the sequel to the hit Olympus has Fallen which premiered in 2012 Gerard Butler features as a secret service agent Mike Banning. He uncovers a terrorist plot at the British Prime Minister's funeral. The movie has an unusual production schedule and is slated to release on October 2nd 2015. Apparently it is going to shoot for a month before going on hold until April next year. This will allow Butler, who is the main character to work on Dean Devlin's sci-fi action thriller, Geostorm during the break. This is why Millennium moved so quickly to find someone for the role after Bind bowed out for the role. He should be the one to take the role, as the plot is British after all. Gerard and Cruise would be the perfect choices but both of them are busy and Butler did start the whole thing off with the 2012 film in the first place. He is going to star alongside Aaron Eckhart who was the American president in the first installment.
Antoine Fuqua directed the first film but opted not to come back for the sequel because allegedly, he did not like where the series was headed. According to the latest reports it seems that the movie has found a new director and it is Babak Najafi. He is best known for Easy Money II: Hard to Kill. He is not too well known in the United States as yet. He made his hallmark in the film industry with 2010′s Sebbe. This won the Best Debut Film award at the Berlin Film Festival and this followed up with the Snabba Cash sequel. As such, London has Fallen is going to be his third film.
Fuqua provided a sense of Nostalgia and patriotism so well with the first film that a separate similar movie; Whitehouse Down, starring Jamie Foxx and Chanin Tatum debuted soon after. We will just have to wait and see whether Najafi who will be getting his feet wet in the Hollywood Studio system for the first time, will be up to the task.
