"A Walk Among the Tombstones" Review: Liam Neeson, annual action hero tradition
By now most sound audience members have grown to love watching the seemingly traditional movie releases that give Liam Neeson the steering wheel and takes us across some great action. This time will not be the one in which he disappoints, staying true to the calm and collected character we have grown to love, Liam put a on a great performance and the same can be said for the cast.
Based on the familiar crime investigation plot genre, Matt Scudder (Liam) is a retired detective who now works on contracts as a private investigator- a job most fitting for the brave and intuitive character. He gets hired by a drug lord to look into the case of his kidnaped wife, who got brutally murdered even after ransom was paid for her release. Not wanting to waste time on the obvious he declines, but later accepts after a heartfelt-plead from the badly named drug dealer, Kenny Kristo.
Scudder is then led through the crimes of the kidnapers, who seem to have made it norm to 'do off' with their victims even after they have been paid to let go of them. Well into the movie, Scudder seems to have thrown in the towel, until one such kidnappings occurs at his knowledge and the work now is to retrieve the victim alive while whipping the criminals off the face of the Earth.
For a nearly 115 minute long ride and at a reported budget of US$30 million; this project will not be a bad investment for the motion picture companies or to you either. If you already are a Liam follower then every scene of the plot will go down easy as they are almost all centred on what happens and how he reacts to situations.
The movie is rated R for brief nudity, violence (as expected), bad language and disturbing images. Not really what you would expose your children to, but still a great watch and addition to the Liam collection. Can't wait to see what will follow after this, if you have not watched the previous Liam features then better get updated and brace yourself for the next.
