Why Doesn’t Hobby Lobby Sell Halloween Decorations? Founder David Green Explains the $22 Million Decision

Hobby Lobby doesn't sell Halloween merchandise, and founder David Green says the reason is his faith. His earlier comments are getting fresh attention after a Newsmax segment highlighted them.

Green said the company once sold more than $22 million worth of Halloween products before he decided to stop. "I just felt in my spirit that God says, 'don't sell this,'" he said. He explained that he got out of the Halloween business and lost those sales.

Green described Halloween as a dark holiday and a celebration of death, pointing to merchandise featuring blood and horror. He made the comments to The School of Hard Knockz, adding that the company will not compromise its Christian faith or integrity for more money, and that God has blessed it over the long term.

Customers will instead find fall and Thanksgiving items such as scarecrows, pumpkins and leaves. Hobby Lobby stores are also closed on Sundays, to give employees and customers more time for worship and family.

Christians hold different views on Halloween, and Green's comments reflect his own convictions as the company's founder.
