Miley Cyrus has granted a fan's very personal wish. The singer shaved the head of Cash Jacobs, a fan with stage 3 breast cancer, backstage at the Hollywood Bowl before Jacobs began chemotherapy. To be clear, Cyrus does not have cancer. Jacobs is the one facing treatment.
It began online. On Oct. 15, Jacobs posted on TikTok asking viewers to tag Cyrus and her team so they would see her wish. After Jacobs attended the Oct. 16 concert without meeting her, Cyrus arranged for her to fly back to Los Angeles for the second show on Oct. 18. Backstage, Cyrus checked that Jacobs was ready before picking up the clippers.
Cyrus offered encouragement throughout. "You can be soft and strong at the same time," she told Jacobs. She also told her that feeling scared and feeling capable can happen at once, and that everyone's suffering is different.
Jacobs shared the video on Oct. 21. In her caption, she thanked Cyrus for making her feel safe and comfortable, called the experience a wish come true, and said Cyrus remains her biggest inspiration.
The Hollywood Bowl shows were Cyrus's first full concerts in four years.
As Jacobs begins treatment, many readers will be keeping her in their thoughts and prayers.
