Hilary Duff is getting a head start on Christmas-and giving longtime fans a familiar song to put back on repeat. The singer has announced Holiday Things, a five-track EP pairing three original songs with two seasonal favorites, including a fresh version of her cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas."
Scheduled for release Friday, October 23, the project brings new material into Duff's holiday repertoire before Halloween has even arrived. Its original tracks are "All You Want for Christmas Is Me," "I Want (A Few Small Things)" and "I Guess It's Christmas," offering listeners three new contenders for their December playlists.
The title "All You Want for Christmas Is Me" brings a cheeky reversal to a familiar holiday sentiment. Whether the song delivers flirtation, humor or something more sentimental remains for listeners to discover, but its name alone gives the collection a playful point of entry.
Alongside the originals, Duff will release her interpretation of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The updated "Last Christmas," meanwhile, reconnects the project with her earlier holiday album, Santa Claus Lane, giving fans a chance to hear her revisit a seasonal recording from the beginning of her music career.
That combination gives Holiday Things its appeal: familiar Christmas melodies provide the welcome, while the originals offer something new to discover. For listeners who grew up with Duff's music, the return to "Last Christmas" also supplies a nostalgic reason to check out the release.
With five songs and an October arrival, Duff is offering an early invitation to switch on the Christmas lights-and see which of her new holiday tracks deserves a place beside an old favorite.
