Chris Tomlin is welcoming Christmas early-and the song opening his holiday season comes with a surprising admission. The worship artist has released "It's Christmas Time Again," offering listeners their first taste of Good News of Great Joy (Christmas Songs of Worship), arriving November 6.
"This first one is a bit out of the box for me," Tomlin said. He explained that the single grew from his desire to capture the warmth of celebrating with loved ones, and that this departure from his usual songwriting sparked the wider album.
For listeners accustomed to Tomlin's congregational anthems, that makes the new release an intriguing introduction. His account places family memories and the anticipation of gathering together at the beginning of a project whose title points toward the announcement of Jesus' birth.
"I've always said that Christmas started with a song," Tomlin wrote in his Instagram announcement. Expressing his excitement about the single's arrival, he also invited fans to pre-add or pre-save the forthcoming album through the link in his bio.
The 11-track collection pairs seasonal favorites with newer material. Its lineup includes "The Manger to the Cross," "Holy Forever (Christmas)," "Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy)," and "Day of All Days," featuring Terrian. Those selections suggest a journey from familiar Christmas celebration toward reflection on the meaning of the season.
The album also begins a broader holiday rollout. Tomlin's children's book, Good News of Great Joy, follows November 10, with his Christmas tour launching November 30-extending the project into family reading and live worship.
