Jason Gray’s Son Jacob Is Finally Home After Nearly 100 Days Of Leukemia Treatment

Christian singer-songwriter Jason Gray has delivered the update his family, friends and fans have been praying to hear: "Jacob is home."

After nearly 100 days of chemotherapy, procedures, spinal taps, close monitoring and severe isolation while his new immune system began developing, Gray's son Jacob has finally been permitted to leave treatment and return home.

The long-awaited homecoming follows several major medical milestones. Jacob received his final chemotherapy treatment, underwent his final lumbar puncture and had his Hickman line removed last week. Then, on Friday, he walked out of treatment and headed home.

"This part is DONE, and there is so much reason to be hopeful," Gray announced.

The joyous update comes after an agonizing second battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Jacob was initially diagnosed with ALL in 2019 and overcame the disease, only for it to return unexpectedly in late 2025.

The relapse first announced itself through what appeared to be a lingering black eye. The swelling eventually grew into a large tumor, and a biopsy confirmed that Jacob's leukemia had returned. Further tests revealed that the cancer was progressing more quickly than expected, forcing doctors to abandon their original treatment protocol.

Jacob was admitted to the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, where physicians attempted different treatments to control the disease. He subsequently underwent CAR T-cell therapy, which modifies a patient's immune cells so they can recognize and attack cancer. That was followed by a stem-cell transplant on May 29, beginning the crucial 100-day period during which his new immune system had to take hold.

The process drastically restricted Jacob's contact with the outside world because even an ordinary infection could pose a serious danger. Gray paid special tribute to Jacob's mother, Taya, who placed much of her own life on hold to remain with their son throughout his treatment.

"I'm deeply grateful for the way she has been there for our son and helped him across this finish line," he wrote.

Gray also thanked fans whose support became an extraordinary part of the family's story. After he revealed the frightening diagnosis and asked for assistance, supporters contributed nearly $70,000 toward Jacob's medical and living expenses. They also flooded the family with prayers, messages and regular requests for updates.

"Your care has meant more than you may ever fully know," Gray told them.

The singer carefully emphasized that Jacob's journey is not over. His newly rebuilt immune system remains extremely vulnerable, and months of monitoring, medical precautions and uncertainty lie ahead. However, returning home represents a massive threshold after almost 100 days dominated by hospital rooms, treatments and isolation.

Taya perhaps summarized Jacob's transformation most memorably, saying he returned home with "a new blood type, a depth of hard-earned wisdom and experience, TWO good seeing eyeballs, and his strong brave sweet heart."

For Gray, however, the most important words were also the simplest: "Well done, Jacob."

After fighting leukemia for a second time, enduring an eye tumor, CAR T-cell therapy, a stem-cell transplant and nearly 100 days of restricted living, Jacob has finally made it home-and that is a finish line worth celebrating.
