Anna Faris and Chris Pratt may have gone their separate ways years ago, but it appears their 14-year-old son Jack is developing a strong interest in something closely associated with his famous dad: Christian faith.
And apparently, Jack isn't keeping his beliefs to himself.
During an Aug. 20 appearance on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast, Faris revealed that her teenage son considers himself religious - despite his mother saying she did not grow up with religion.
"He is religious. I didn't grow up with religion," Faris revealed, before dropping the much more surprising detail: Jack has asked his mom to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior.
Faris told her son she would do practically anything for him, including seriously considering what he was asking. But she made clear that becoming a Christian isn't something she's prepared to do simply because Jack wants her to.
Instead, she told him it would require plenty of long conversations.
And those conversations are apparently already happening.
Faris says she actively challenges Jack's beliefs rather than simply accepting everything he says. Among the subjects mother and son have tackled is his apparent pro-life position, with Faris asking whether being able to hold that position might itself be a kind of "luxury."
She's also tested him on some of the less flattering corners of modern Christianity, asking what he thinks about megachurch pastors she considers grifters.
Jack apparently isn't impressed with them either.
Faris said what encourages her most isn't necessarily that her son agrees with her, but that he's willing to examine what he believes and recognize hypocrisy when he encounters it.
"I'm appreciative that he's examining religion the way he is," she said, adding that she values their ability to have lengthy conversations about faith.
The revelation is particularly fascinating because Jack's father, Chris Pratt, has been one of Hollywood's most outspoken celebrities when it comes to belief in God.
Pratt has previously connected his faith directly to Jack's traumatic birth. Jack arrived nine weeks premature in 2012 and faced serious medical problems. Pratt has said the terrifying experience brought him to his knees in prayer and strengthened his commitment to God.
Now, more than a decade later, it appears the son whose medical crisis had such a profound effect on Pratt's faith is beginning to explore Christianity for himself - and even trying to bring Mom along with him.
Faris and Pratt married in 2009, separated in 2017 and finalized their divorce the following year. Pratt subsequently married Katherine Schwarzenegger, while Faris married cinematographer Michael Barrett.
Despite growing up between two households and two parents with noticeably different approaches to religion, Jack appears to be developing convictions of his own.
And Faris isn't shutting the conversation down.
She may not be ready to say yes to her son's invitation to accept Christ, but she seems more than willing to keep talking with him about it.
For a Hollywood teenager, that's already a pretty interesting faith story
